Terminal Intelligence: MIA Terminal E
Are those fish oil supplements next to the latest issue of Bon Appetit?!
Welcome to Terminal Intelligence. Because friends don’t let friends get stuck at the airport without any decent healthy options.
This week we’re taking off from: MIA Terminal E
Overall: Bleak unless you are just snacking—BYO food whenever possible.
I need breakfast: Grab an instant oatmeal cup and banana at World Wide Café (or make an extra stop at New Link and top it with peanut butter and crumbled banana chips from a Justin's snack pack).
I need a snack: New Link has a surprisingly impressive range of healthier options, from raw nuts and organic dark chocolate (we spied Green & Black's, along with Lily's Dark Chocolate and Endangered Species Chocolate) to Rhythm kale chips and Epic jerky. World Wide Café sometimes stocks Sabra hummus cups—but expect to wait in line, which isn't ideal if you're in a rush.
I need a real meal: Good luck with that. The fridge at the Pizza Hut window has salads—including a "garden salad" option that's meat-free—but the lettuce is definitely wilt-y and on the iceberg end of the spectrum. If you do eat meat, News Link has much fresher Chicken Caesar salad options (along with sandwiches, wraps, and fruit cups), but it's definitely airport food.
I forgot something at home: Wait, are those fish oil supplements next to the latest issue of Bon Appetit? Yup—News Link has a surprisingly holistic range of options alongside the usual pill suspects. They also stock a range of natural-leaning personal care products (think hand lotion, lip balm, and body wipes) from Pacifica and Burt's Bees.
I need to fill up my water bottle: There are bottle fill stations within the terminal (in addition to the usual water fountains).
